Timing ⁽¹²⁾

The OCXO card is a somewhat standalone reference oscillator made for the 3021N receiver. This card was finished in late 2022.

Note that this part of the series is published out of order, at the time of first issue this PCA has not been integrated into the radio, but a copy of the PCA has been integrated into a 19" rack unit.

The Symmetricom X72 is a very compact high quality Rb oscillator, I bought a broken one hoping the physics package wasn't broken.

The C-MAC STP 2373LF is a 2x2x1" OCXO used in e.g. the Epsilon EC2S GPS clocks. Since a number of these clocks were broken in obvious or subtle ways, I decided to reuse the OCXO's and other useful components from these.

The Furuno GT-88 is a GNSS timing receiver intended for precision timekeeping. These are my impressions after some testing, but before I've tried to build a full reference clock system based on it.

The Meinberg PZF180PEX is a fairly uncommon sight in northern Europe. It is a PCIe radio clock receiver for the German DCF77 long wave time signal, made by German company Meinberg.

This is a cute little clock intended for OEM precision timing, let's look at how it's built.

Some viewers may have noted some 7-segment clocks in the background of some pictures in prior entries. I decided to update this system for the 2020 holiday season, and built 10 new clocks to replace 3 old ones.

I bought some more 58534A-H01 receivers and found that these receivers were of the older type I had seen low resolution pictures of before.

On a whim I bought some pole mount GPS receivers. 

Being unable to find any real details on what's inside I mostly bought them blind, so I took some photos of the insides to help others out.

The Spectracom Epsilon Clock EC2S and similar devices are fairly high end GPS clocks/timing receivers.

I've spent a few days with one and I wrote a utility to program the device that is available for download.

I've designed a 3D printable solution for rack mounting Lucent RFTG-u receivers on cheap 2U shelves.
